The main objective is to assess the effectiveness of the existing urban drainage systems, examine the various stress factors that contribute to their inefficiency, identify international best practices, and propose urban planning solutions to mitigate flood impacts. The study emphasizes the crucial role of infrastructure, especially in reducing the city's vulnerability. It highlights the challenges encountered by Mumbai, including rapid urbanization, haphazard development, and the dense population, which intensifies the flood risk. The research incorporates relevant theories, models, and cases to formulate comprehensive recommendations. Ultimately, the study aims to contribute to the sustainable development goals and enhance the overall well-being of Mumbai's residents.
