The integrative approach to urban conservation and urban development brings reforms in policy for development and a design concept of ‘Public realm’ as an important tool to resolve issues of heritage and infrastructure. Tourism has emerged as an important social and economic force to mediate conservation and urban development, and to revitalize the essential structuring elements of built environment for the new challenges of urban change.
