Abstract
Recent enthusiasm about smart technologies, heavily promoted by cities such as Vienna, may nurture hope in the Ruhr that the smart city paradigm could revitalize the new smart technologies could certainly address some of the complex spatial challenges of the polycentric urban agglomeration, such as declining public see people, energy conservation or more convenient regional mobility.
