Abstract
The study turns to a theoretical reflection on the outcomes that the heritage protection over the last decades had on the use of public space and urban life, trying to compare the effects that have been observed on different urban models such as large metropolitan cities and small historic towns. The aim is to investigate the different responsibilities that contribute to the process of moving urban life away from historical and heritage sites, studying, among these, the impact of mass tourism.
