Abstract
Islands and island archipelagos, as typical peripheral areas, are of particular interest for both researchers and spatial planners. In this research the importance of the scenario method, especially in the education of future spatial planners is emphasised. The Zadar Island archipelago in Croatia was chosen as a case study for which eight possible scenarios were proposed. According to the evaluation the best rated scenario was developed in the longterm vision. Necessary activities in the form of different models (housing, transport, economy, green infrastructure) and related development projects were proposed for a period of next 25 years. Proposed models, with some modifications could be applicable to areas with similar characteristics.
